The Story
A four-hour hike to Lauterbrunnen turns tense as Graham crosses his first glacier and faces down his fear before a PCA BASE jump. Jamie has eyed the exit for years, but this time chooses to stay behind and help.
Uli's Hole and a four-hour hike
Jamie brought his friend Graham to Uli's Hole above Lauterbrunnen and told him it was a two-hour hike. It was four. Graham crossed his first glacier on the way and fought for every step up. By the time they reached the exit, his fear was real, and so was Jamie's, just a different kind.
The jump Jamie chose not to take
Jamie had been thinking about flying through that hole for years. That day he chose not to. He stayed behind, helped, and watched Graham take the jump instead. It is one of the most honest moments on the channel: sometimes the right call is to step back and let someone else have the moment.
Learning the craft
The film also covers how Graham got here: learning to BASE jump at a bridge in France, fixing off-heading parachute openings, and what a PCA, a pilot chute assist, actually is. A PCA means someone holds the pilot chute at the exit so the parachute deploys cleanly on the first jump from a new object.
Why this one matters
Battling Monsters is a movement, not a solo act. Helping someone through their own fear, and putting your ego aside to do it, is part of managing your own. Graham overcame a self-limiting belief on that exit. Jamie learned something too.
