The Story
Jamie exits a jungle cliff in wingsuit BASE gear, tracks tight along the rock face, opens over the trees, and lands right next to the beach. Oliver lands after and the team celebrates together.
Pedra da Gávea, Rio de Janeiro
Pedra da Gávea is one of the most iconic wingsuit BASE exits in Rio de Janeiro. You launch off a jungle cliff, fly along the wall, and come down to land right next to the beach. Big thanks to Freefly Rob for opening this exit.
The flight
Jamie exits the cliff in his wingsuit, tracks tight along the rock face, and opens his parachute over the trees. The question in the title is real: from the exit you cannot be sure you will make the beach, and a short landing in the jungle is not a good day.
He makes it, landing right beside the sand. Oliver lands after him, and the team celebrates together.
Why Rio
Few places on earth put jungle, granite walls and ocean this close together. That is what makes Pedra da Gávea special, and why wingsuit athletes travel from around the world to fly it.
Why this one matters
Every Battling Monsters film is about a goal that is uncertain until the end. Rio is the lighter side of that idea: a beautiful line, good friends and the simple joy of landing where you hoped to.
