Who this is

Aaron Patenay is fighting fentanyl, Xanax and meth addiction. He has been through rehab more than once. It did not hold.

So he goes into the desert, to try recovery through nature and hard work instead. He does not call it rehab. He calls it a last resort to live.

Why we filmed it

I know addiction from the inside. That is why this film exists.

This is a raw-select reel, not a finished story, and it does not pretend to have an ending yet. People who are still in it deserve to see someone else in it too, without a bow on top.

Why we make these films

Battling Monsters is the mental health movement Jamie Leibert founded. PTSD is the monster. A wingsuit is how he manages it. Not a recovery story. A daily fight, filmed. Every film on this site is free because the people who need it most are the ones who cannot pay for it.
