What happened the first time

A year and a half earlier, a botched landing at Lauterbrunnen broke my foot. It left daily pain, and it left fear. The pain you can see on an x-ray. The fear you only find out about the next time you stand on a launch.

Going back

So I went back to the same spot. Clean launch, a good line, and only a soft tumble on landing.

Going back to the place that hurt you is not about proving anything to anyone watching. It is about not letting one bad day decide what you are allowed to do for the rest of your life.

The rest of the week

Switzerland also gave us a hard climbing route, the country's longest toboggan run, and a very painful wrong turn into stinging nettles looking for crags.

Why we make these films

Battling Monsters is the mental health movement Jamie Leibert founded. PTSD is the monster. A wingsuit is how he manages it. Not a recovery story. A daily fight, filmed. Every film on this site is free because the people who need it most are the ones who cannot pay for it.
